A consumerwatchdog group goodguide said that theZhu Zhu pet is toxic and has a chemical called antimony, a metal with potential health hazards. Dara O Rourke, an associate professor ofenvironmental science at U.C – Berkelye and co founder of goodguide said that if ingested in high levels, it can lead to cancer, reproductive health and other human health hazards.

Goodguide said that Zhu Zhu hamster had quite high levels of antimony. Antimony is a chemical alloy used in rubber, ceramics, enamel and electronics. The federal guideline for Antimony’s use is 60ppm(parts per million) and the cute little hamster contains 76ppm.
